DINNER THEATER PREMIERES IN COVINGTON - The play "Red Velvet Cake Wars", which was performed as Dinner Theater on March 23, 2013, for the benefit of Relay for Life was a Rousing Success!!  Over 300 attended the dinner and performance.

Altogether, the food was delicious, the evening was a lot of fun, and we were able to raise over $7500 toward the fight against cancer!

CALDWELL & COWAN STAFF HONORED BY NATIONAL FUNERAL DIRECTORS ASSOCIATION AT ANNUAL CONVENTION:   Scott Ellis received his Certified Preneed Counselor certification and Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home staff received their seventh PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE award at the National Funeral Directors Association Convention and Expo held in Charlotte, NC October 7-10, 2012.

JOVIE THE THERAPY DOG:  Jovie, our Grief Therapy Dog, is one of our busiest workers! Grief Therapy Dogs have the ability to assist people with the grieving process. Their steady and unwavering companionship helps to provide consolation to family members, while the effects of stroking the fur of a serene dog can be incredibly comforting. Families being served by Caldwell & Cowan, Dogwood Hill Crematory, or Lawnwood Memorial Park may request that the Dog/Handler team come to either funeral home facility for added support.

Jovie's visits are not simply limited to a "final visit" at the funeral home or cemetery. Jovie loves to visit people of all ages, so Jovie and her Handler team offer a number of different ways for her to help others: --Nursing Home Visits --Hospice Visits --Hospital Visits

Jovie is always available to meet with a family that needs her services. However, not all facilities like visits from therapy animals. For this reason, permission for any visit to a nursing home, hospice, or hospital requires the authorization of the facility director.

Jovie currently visits Merryvale Assisted Living on a regular basis, and is always present at our Support Group Meetings. Jovie also visits a local elementary school and helps children who have reading difficulties. Children love to read to Jovie because she just listens and doesn't judge their abilities. This enables the child to become a more confident reader.

For the story about Jovie which appeared on Fox 5 News, please visit our Facebook page.

GRIEF MANAGEMENT CENTER:   Our Floyd Street location is now our Grief Management Center. Our Director of Grief Management and Grief Management Specialist, Adam Cooper, is headquartered there. Adam has recently received his Masters in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Our daytime and evening Support Groups meet in the Center every Thursday, and Jovie, our Grief Therapy Dog, has her "office" there. Our Grief Library is located in the Center, and our reading room is open to the public each day from 9 AM to 4 PM. For information about Support Group meetings, or any aftercare service offered by our Grief Management Center, please call 770-786-7042 or visit our website lifechangesaftercare.org.

RECEPTION ROOM / EVENT CENTER:  Our Floyd Street location is available for use for meals or receptions prior to, or after, funeral services and interments. The room is also AVAILABLE FOR MEETINGS AND CATERED EVENTS. We can accommodate up to 200 people for a meeting, up to 80 people for a catered sit-down meal, and even more for an unstructured reception. Please call 770-786-7042 for more details and information.

Our Floyd Street Chapel remains available for visitations and funeral services.
