Alice Laverne Tumlin of Covington, passed away January 17, 2015, at the age of 71. Mrs. Tumlin was an exceptional cook and well-known for her homemade biscuits. She had a green thumb and enjoyed flower gardening. She took pride in her appearance and made sure her hair was always fixed to a tee. Mrs. Tumlin loved being a mother to her five children and especially cherished the time she spent with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Juliette (Ramey) Tucker.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Wayne Tumlin; children, Mary Alice Marshall of Jackson, Junior Tumlin of McDonough, Brenda Diane Fennell, Tina Nanette Griffin, both of Stockbridge, Robin Tumlin of Suches; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Joyce Tucker of Clarkesville, Rickey and Loretta Tucker of Commerce; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathy and Kenny Casper of Danielsville, Mary Elizabeth Tumlin of Minnesota, Miriam Tumlin of Stockbridge; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl Edward and Heather Tumlin of Locust Grove; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Tumlin will be held Thursday, January 22, 2015, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with interment following in East View Cemetery, in Conyers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, two hours prior to the service, from 12:00 - 2:00 PM.
