Alma Grace Meikle of Covington, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at the age of 83. Born in Highgate, St. Mary, Jamaica, Mrs. Meikle grew up in Kingston where she owned and operated a lingerie factory until 1976, when she immigrated to The Bronx, New York. After her move to New York, she became a nurse working for several years at Montefiore Hospital where she retired. Mrs. Meikle then moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, in 1988, and then to Covington, Georgia, in 2005. She was a God-fearing woman of the Pentecostal faith whose testament of Christianity was always exhibited while helping anyone in need. Mrs. Meikle was preceded in death by her son, Owen Meikle; parents, Victor and Alice (Wright) Campbell; and 19 siblings.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Carl McDonald; sons and daughters-in-law, Trevor and Pauline Meikle, Anthony and Doreen Meikle; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Vera Hurd; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Meikle will be held Saturday, July 18, 2020, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Gavin Moon officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, one hour prior to her service, from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M.
