Amanda Jolene “JoJo” Curran Smith passed away at her home on 26 April 2022 at the age of 42 due to complications of diabetes. Jolene was born 6 February 1980, the younger daughter of Kenneth Curran and the late Donna Jane Thomason Curran.
Jolene enjoyed cooking and creating her own recipes. She liked to say that she had put the “JoJo mojo” on it. She was an animal lover from a very young age—befriending all types of critters, even slugs, giving them names and everything. One of her favorite pastimes was listening to music and singing along...outside...at all hours of the day or night.
Jolene was a fierce and loyal friend. Though she only stood 4 ft 11 in, she had the heart and love of a giant. She was funny—loved a good joke and when the joke fell flat, she would flash a grin with her dimples and tell you, “It was a joke!”
Jolene was kind but didn’t back down from a good argument. A personality like Jolene’s is not easily forgotten and we, her family and friends, would never want to. The world is truly a little bit darker without the shine of her soul here in it.
She leaves behind devoted husband, Matthew Smith; her father Kenneth Curran; sister and brother-in-law Sarah and Cody Schaal; grandparents Donald and Alice Curran; aunt, Janet Curran, and many cousins and friends.
She will especially be missed by her nieces and nephews. She was known for her “JoJo Hugs”— her version of a bear hug.
Preceding her in death is her mother, Donna Jane Thomason Curran; grandparents Jack and Shirley Thomason.
Jolene's wishes were to be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to help assist in paying for her final expenses. https://gofund.me/01263018
