Andrew Jackson “Andy” Denman Jr. passed away on September 16, 2024. Andy was born in Atlanta, GA to loving parents, Andrew and Ruth Schillinger Denman. He grew up in Athens, GA an Athens boy through and through. He loved time at the YMCA as one of Kelly’s boys, Athens Y Camp as a camper and a counselor, and met his high school sweetheart and future wife in the halls of Athens High school. Andy attended Gainesville Junior College and graduated from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in 1972.
Andy is survived by his devoted wife, Dannette Daniel Denman, his son Drew Denman(Ashley) and two grandchildren, Addison and Jack Denman. He is also survived by a sister, Sylvia Denman Wilson (Tommy), brother, Steve Denman(Carole), sister in law, Pam Daniel Loughridge(David), brother in law Randy Daniel(Beth), and nieces and nephews.
Andy was employed by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources in the Game and Fish Division. Whether it was collecting data about deer, nursing a baby fawn, or relocating game throughout Georgia, Andy put his best effort in all he did.
Andy loved people (especially little children), animals, and nature. He was a people collector and maintained and treasured those friendships throughout his life. He always treasured the times he got to go turkey hunting. He enjoyed grilling pork loins for family and friends. He could always be counted on for a laugh, a treat, or a helping hand. He found joy in every day life.
He and Dannette were charter members of Crosspointe Baptist Church and Andy served as needed in many areas. Nowhere was his servant’s heart more evident. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 20, 2024 at 11 A.M. at Crosspointe Church, 252 Byrd Rd. Oxford, GA 30054. Friends are invited to visit with the family an hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 A.M. at the church. The family invites you to join them at 3 P.M. for the internment in Colbert Cemetery, 3 Joe Barton/Benton Dr, Colbert, GA 30628.
