Arthur L. Robinson

Arthur L. Robinson of Monroe passed away November 1, 2015, at the age of 90. To some he was known as "Buddy", and to others, he was known as "Art". Mr. Robinson proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and WWII, earning among other medals, two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star with Valor. A member of the Marine Corps League in Covington, he enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. Mr. Robinson was employed by the City of Miami Beach and Dade County, as a Traffic Signal Supervisor, for 25 years. After his retirement, Mr. Robinson went to work for Hercules as a security guard where he always had chewing gum to give away. He had a heart for children and enjoyed making his Buddy Milkshakes for them. Even though he appeared to have a rough exterior, Mr. Robinson had a heart of compassion. He was preceded in death by his sweetheart of 67 years, Grace Ellen Dann Robinson; son, Arthur L. Robinson, Jr.; parents, Lewis and Willie Mae Robinson; brothers, Bobby Robinson and Lawrence Robinson.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Rhonda Robinson of Covington; daughter-in-law, Cindy Robinson of Oxford; grandchildren, James Robinson, Troy Robinson, Emmett Robinson, Emily Robinson, Marley Robinson; great-grandchildren, Josie Robinson, Sadie Robinson; great-great-granddaughter, Issabella Robinson; sister-in-law, Elfriede Dann; nieces and nephews; extended family, Steve and Tim Hammond, Tim Spalding, Betty Allgood, as well as the Aukes Family.

A Graveside Service for Mr. Robinson will be held Thursday, November 5, 2015, 3:00 PM, at Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, Covington, GA, with Dr. Jeff Perkins officiating. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Wednesday, November 4, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
