Bessie Ruth Jackson, a native of Walnut Grove, passed away March 20, 2017, at the age of 90. Ms. Jackson worked for over 20 years for Carwood Uniforms. A lifelong member of Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, she also served on several church boards and was very active with United Methodist Women. Her hobbies included canning vegetables, gardening, knitting and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shelda Brackett; parents, June P. and Rentha (Rutledge) Thompson; sisters, Martha Brannon and Myrtle Maloy; brother, Houston Thompson.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Betty J. King of Bold Springs, Eloise and Richard Carter of Loganville, Donna J. Davis of Bethlehem; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Ms. Jackson will be held Friday, March 24, 2017, 2 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Theresa Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Walnut Grove. Friends may visit with her family at the funeral home, Thursday, March 23, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, and again one hour prior to her service, from 1:00 - 2:00 PM.
