Betty Colquitt Barton

Betty Colquitt Barton of Loganville, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at the age of 85. Mrs. Barton was born in Lexington, GA, and native of Oglethorpe County, but resided in Atlanta and Decatur for most of her life.

Mrs. Barton began her career at the age of 18 with Fulton National Bank, staying with them during acquisitions for over 40 years, before retiring from Bank South, which is now known as Bank of America. She was especially close with her family and sisters, and holiday celebrations with them brought her much joy throughout the years. Mrs. Barton loved crossword puzzles, and reading People Magazine in her leisure. She was preceded in death by her husband Dewey Jackson Barton; parents William (Bill) and Christine Colquitt; Brother-in-Law(s) Laroy Gee, Joe Williams and Bob Boyles.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Kris and Darrel Gower of Loganville; grandchildren, Kelsey Gower, Reagan Gower, Rose Gower; sisters and brother-in-law, Georgia C. Gee of Forest Park, Sandra and Bill Lack of Candler, NC; and nephew, Kevin Boyles of Jesup.

A Private Graveside Service for Mrs. Barton will be held Wednesday, June 3, 2020, 2:00 P.M., at Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Don Hardison officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her service, from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington. With respect to the current pandemic, please observe social distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America, P.O.
