Billie Ruth May of Covington, passed away February 13, 2015, at the age of 88. Mrs. May was a 1943 graduate of John H. Reagan High School and former Girl Scout Den Mother. She was a faithful member at Solid Rock Baptist Church. She was employed by Safeway Grocery for ten years before retiring in 1987. Mrs. May was a former resident of Houston, Texas, before moving to Covington in 1995. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother and always there for her family. Mrs. May enjoyed cooking and was an excellent seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl May; her parents, Jesse James "Babe" and Monette Moore; her brother, Kenneth Moore.
Survivors include her daughters, Carolyn Jean Haymons of Covington, Georgia Lee St. Thomas of Jackson; son and daughter-in-law, Michael Earl and Marion May of Fort Smith, AR; grandsons, John Haymons, Matthew Haymons and wife, Nikki, Mark Haney, Joel Hamilton, Christopher St. Thomas and wife, Brittany; great-grandchildren, Harrison Haymons, Mattie Belle Haymons, Ella Grace St. Thomas; brother, Don Moore of Burbank, CA.
Funeral Services for Mrs. May will be held Monday, February 16, 2015, 2:00 PM, at Solid Rock Baptist Church, 8111 Brown Bridge Road, Covington, with Rev. Mike Franklin officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Sunday, February 15, 2015, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
