Billy Kitchens Hammond

Billy Kitchens Hammond of Conyers, passed away February 3, 2011, at the age of 79. Mr. Hammond was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a faithful member of Belmont Baptist Church, loved his Bible, and enjoyed southern gospel music. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, camping, fishing, traveling, and watching his grandchildren play ball. Mr. Hammond was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He is loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Pierce and Christine (Kitchens) Hammond; and two brothers. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Lois (McElreath) Hammond of Conyers; daughter, Phyllis Allgood of Conyers; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Mary Hammond of Reno, NV, Mike and Jayne Hammond of Social Circle; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers; two sisters; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Hammond will be held Sunday, February 6, 2011, 2:30 PM, at Belmont Baptist Church, in Conyers, with Pastor Nolan Jackson officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Saturday, February 5, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.
