Bobbie Jean Blankenship Lindsey

Bobbie Jean Blankenship Lindsey, of Covington, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025, at the age of 96. Mrs. Lindsey was a long-time member of Grace Baptist Church. A devout Christian she loved reading her Bible (from start to finish several times) and telling everyone about the Lord and her favorite scriptures. Mrs. Lindsey also enjoyed reading books by Charles Stanley and Billy Graham, doing crossword puzzles, and most of all going to Waffle House and having a cup of black coffee. She loved shopping and jewelry of all sorts and watching The Golden Girls and Columbo. Mrs. Lindsay, affectionately known by some as “BJ” was the sweetest little lady there ever was. She believed deeply in the power of prayer and in living a life that reflected the teachings of Jesus, and this love was evident in all that she did. Mrs. Lindsey will be missed by all who knew her. 

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Guy Whitley; husband, Lincoln Lindsey; son, Dennis Whitley; parents, Irvin and Sarah Blankenship; and her sister, Betty Stanton. 

Survivors include her daughter, Sara Lynn Whitley Smith (Keith); daughter-in-law, Cheryl Johnson (David); grandchildren, Brent Ray, Lori Smith, Angela Wilde, Cynthia Johnson, Trent Whitley; as well as six great-grandchildren; and special nieces, Brenda Stanton, Sandra Jane Whisenant.

 A Funeral Service for Mrs. Lindsey will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2025, 1:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road in Covington, with interment following in Liberty Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home, one hour prior to her service, from 12:00 – 1:00 P.M.

The family would like to thank the staff of Graceful Manor, in Monroe, for taking such great care of Mrs. Lindsey – especially Kelly and Dee Dee.
