Bruce Thomas Deverell, of Covington, passed away Friday, November 3, 2023, at the age of 70.
He was proud of his military service as a Navy Corpsman and enjoyed traveling for work. Bruce never met a stranger.
In the early 1980's Bruce was the driving force to re-vitalize the lighting and sound for the Open Air Theater in Washington's Crossing, NJ. He and his team of dedicated "techie" friends brought to life theater in an old barn in Pennington, NJ for the Pennington Players. Bruce also, along with two good friends, Rich and JT, started Denimas Theatrical Associates. Denimas took over the technical theater productions at Lawrenceville Prep, Rider College (now University), Villa Victoria Academy, and the OAT. If you were to ask any one of the folks who worked with Bruce in the theater, the same sentiment would be heard. "We had a blast!"
Before his retirement, he volunteered yearly for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life in Rockdale County for 10 + years. In his later years he enjoyed hiking at the Georgia International Horse Park with his dog, Ridley.
Survivors include his loving wife of 28 years, Jackie Deverell; daughter, Michelle DeGaglia; step-daughter, Jenn Northup; step-son, Dave Northup; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-granddaughters; sister, Cade Deverell; brother, Bob Deverell; and his four legged constant companion, Ridley.
Mr. Deverell was preceded in death by his father, Harry Thomas Deverell and mother, Mary Louise Deverell.
In lieu of flowers, you are invited to donate to the American Cancer Society or your local Hospice organization.
Family and friends are welcome to attend the Celebration of Life to be held, Saturday, December 2, 1-5 pm at his home. Please contact family for location.
