Caliph Lee Nelson

Caliph Lee Nelson, known affectionately as Lee to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023, in Covington, Georgia. Born on June 18, 1948, in Graham, Alabama, Lee's heartwarming smile and generous spirit were a gift to all who knew him. Lee dedicated 30 years of his life as a skilled electrician at Mead Containers, where his work ethic and camaraderie were highly valued. His faith played a pivotal role in his life, serving as a dedicated usher at the Tabernacle of Praise. Lee had a passion for life's simple pleasures; he adored his family, motorcycles, and horses. A die-hard football fan, Lee cheered fervently for the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs, and spent countless joyful moments with his beloved dog, Toby. Lee was preceded in death by his mother, Effie May Nelson, and father, Calip Hardy Nelson.

Lee's journey through life was filled with love and passion, evident in his 53-year marriage to his cherished wife, Patsy McDaniel Nelson. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including son Danny and daughter-in-law Billie Nelson of Talladega, Alabama, daughters Stephanie Dawn and her husband Richard Roach of Covington, Georgia, and Crystal Leigh Halstead of Monroe, Georgia. Lee's legacy extends through his 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, who were the embodiment of his boundless love and joy. Lee is also survived by his loving sisters, Ethel Chadwick of Olathe, Kansas, and Nellie Denby of Newnan, Georgia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who fondly remember his kindness and gentle spirit. Lee will be remembered as a loving, kind, and gentle man whose memory will be cherished and whose presence will be deeply missed. A going home service will be held at Tabernacle of Praise 3024 Hwy 11 South Mansfield Georgia 30055 on January 20, 2024 @ 11:00am
