Access RoadCatherine L. VanderPloeg of Covington, passed away August 17, 2011, at the age of 100. Mrs. VanderPloeg, along with her late husband, Cornelius, served the Lord as missionaries. Mrs. VanderPloeg specifically led and taught the ladies she met during her missions. She was a wonderful mother and homemaker; and enjoyed sewing and making draperies. She is loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Mrs. VanderPloeg was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Cornelius VanderPloeg; daughter, Barbara Pickett; and her parents, Burr DeForrest and Edith (Baker) Vail.Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Louise and Jim Lindquist of Kigali, Ruwanda, Africa, Nancy Churchill of Princeton, IN; sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Linda VanderPloeg of Ohatchee, AL, Roy and Teresa VanderPloeg of Covington, Don and Judy VanderPloeg of Waxhaw, NC; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.Funeral Services for Mrs. VanderPloeg will be held Sunday, August 21, 2011, 3:00 PM, at Canaan Baptist Church, in Covington, with Dr. Scott Caudill and Rev. Thomas Satterfield officiating, and interment following in Green Meadow Memorial Gardens, in Conyers. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Saturday, August 20, from 6-8 PM.
