Charles (Ron) Dial of Covington, passed away March 9, 2017, at the age of 63. Ron was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and retired as Chief Petty Officer after 26 years of dedicated service. Following his prestigious military career, Ron served the City of Covington for 25 years, as a firefighter, before retiring as Battalion Chief. He was a faithful member of New Life Praise Center and active member of American Legion Post #32. Ron was a hardworking man, a loving husband, adoring father, step-father and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Astor M. and Dorothy (Hall) Dial.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 15 years, Judy Gaither Dial; children and their spouses, Stacy Dial, Amanda Dial, both of Augusta, ME, Chuck and Melissa Dial, Tyler and Erin Long, Travis and Lindsey Long, all of Covington; grandchildren, Katie Dingler, Bryan Dingler, Chase Wilkins, Josh Wilkins, Taylor Wilkins, Aubrey Dial, Brooke Wayt, Wyatt Long, Ivey Long, Grayson Long, Caraline Dial; brother and sisters-in-law, Greg and Lori Dial, Kimberly J. Gaither, all of Covington; nephews, Jeremy Dial, Allen Murray and Dalton Smith.
Funeral Services for Ron will be held Sunday, March 12, 2017, 2 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Justin Adams officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, March 11, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made in Ron's memory to New Life Praise Center, 3144 Stone Mountain Street, Covington, GA 30014.
