Charles W. Smith

Charles W. Smith, of Newborn, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at the age of 88. Mr. Smith married the love of his life, Bobbie Jean Sears Smith June 27, 1953. He worked for Lockheed Martin for a dedicated 35 years and retired on June 30, 1993. After retirement, Mr. Smith started working alongside his son, Ricky, at Newborn Taxidermy as a bird specialist. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing at Clark Hill. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bobbie Jean Smith; son, Dennis Smith; parents, Troy W. and Thelma Inez Smith; and sister, Shirley Corley.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Marsha Smith; grandchildren, Kevin Smith (Tina), Keeli Whisnante (Kasey), Kyle Smith (Christie), Kayla Stanley (Daniel), Ryan Smith, Roman Smith (Laura); great-grandchildren, Hunter, Kaitlyn, Lilah, Ella, Sarah, Kathryn, Kendall, Keegan, Dallas, Loralei; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service for Mr. Smith will be held Sunday, December 11, 2022, 2:30 P.M., at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens, 699 American Legion Road NE, in Conyers, with Pastor Jim Ross officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family, prior to his service, from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington.
