Charlie (Tex) Grover Evans, of Covington, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the age of 77. Mr. Evans was a proud patriot and served in the Army National Guard. After his time in the military ended, he carved out a career working for Bell’s Grocery. Mr. Evans was a devout Christian and member of Covington Mill United Methodist Church. He was a talented musician, playing guitar with several bands throughout his life. In addition, Mr. Evans enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting, tending to his flower garden, and photography. He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Evans; parents, Joe Brown and Marie Edward Evans; sisters, Osceola Lawson, Evelyn Moncrief; and brothers, Floyd Johnson, Phillip E. Johnson.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Luke; grandchildren, Jessica O’Bryon, Jacob Lucero; great-grandson, River Lucero; sister, Barbara Jo Knight; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Evans will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2022, 3:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Phil Payton officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home two hours prior to his service from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M.
