Chris Byrd, of Covington, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022, at the age of 37. Chris was a country boy that loved to go fishing and watch racing. He had a heart of gold and was determined to help anyone and everyone that needed it. Chris cared deeply for those that were in his life and supported their endeavors. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing cards with his kids. Chris loved his children immensely. He was preceded in death by his mother, Becky Wilkins; paternal grandparents, Ray and Hazel Byrd; maternal grandparents, Odis and Joyce Wilkins; and aunts, Rhonda Walden, Trina Byrd.
Chris is survived by his daughter, Ashlyn Leigh Byrd; son, Justin Ray Byrd; father, Dennis Ray Byrd; sisters, Crystal and Steven Fuller, Catherine “Sally” Byrd; aunt, Renee and Greg Gray; niece on the way, Becca Rose Byrd; furbabies, Precious, Neko, Nacho, Diamond; and other loving family members and friends.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Sunday, March 6, 2022, from 4:00 – 9:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made towards his funeral expenses.
Governor Brian Kemp’s latest executive order has eliminated restrictions on large gatherings; however, CDC guidelines recommend social distancing (6 feet apart) and wearing of masks while in public. Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home requests that you observe these recommendations while in our funeral home attending visitations and/or services.
