Dr. Courtney Manning, age 45, of Covington, passed away June 30, 2014. He was born March 30, 1969 in May Pen, Clarendon Jamaica to Victor Manning (deceased) and Aneita Cameron. At the age of five, he moved with his family to St. Catherine where they lived at his grandmother's house. While living there, he attended Basic school in Reynolds and Primary school at Point Hill. At the age of 10, he passed the Common Entrance exam to attend high school, and at the age of 18, he entered the Jamaican Constabulary Force. During this age, he also attended the University of the West Indies. At the age of 20, Dr. Manning was married in Jamaica W.I and shortly thereafter migrated to the U.S.A with his wife where they had three beautiful children named Courtney, Briana, and Antoine Manning. In December of 2007, Dr. Manning moved from the Bronx of New York City to Newton County Georgia where he taught as a Special Education teacher at both Newton and Alcovy High Schools. In addition to teaching at Newton High School, he also served as an Assistant Principal. Dr. Manning had a Doctorate in Education for Educational Leadership, an Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision, a Master of Education Degree in Special Education, a Master of Business Administration in Human Resource Management, a Certificate in International Business, and a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Aside from all of these accomplishments, Dr. Manning was a humble yet powerful servant of God. In 2001, he received his Doctorate in Theology and was a dedicated leader in the faith. As the Bishop of the Ebenezer Tabernacle Apostolic Incorporation, he had a genuine love for the souls of humankind and had a strong desire for individuals to receive the Lord Jesus Christ.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac (Eliza) Russell. In addition to his three children and his mother, he is survived by his wife, Christine Turner-Manning; sister, Alcia Hanson; brother, Averroye Douglas, Billy Cameron, Junior Cameron; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services for Dr. Manning will be held Saturday, August 2, 2014, 11:00 AM, at Voice of Pentecost, 4648 Salem Road, Covington, with Bishop Dilbert Graham officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 AM.
