Dr. Dan McCay Arnold of Katy, TX, died January 30, 2018. "Mac", as he was affectionately known by so many, was born in Athens, GA, to the late Dan and Ruth Arnold. He received his Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy, in Nuclear Physics, all from the University of Georgia. In 1961, Dr. Arnold married Mary Bo Strozier, of Oxford, and together they moved to Texas, so he could utilize his nuclear physics background in the oil industry. A leading pioneer in his industry, Dr. Arnold had more than 60 U.S. patents, 13 publications in various national and international technical journals and numerous Meritorious Engineering Awards from several expert organizations. Additionally, he held professional memberships with The American Physical Society, Society of Petroleum Engineers and Society of Professional Well Log Analyst. Dr. Arnold left a legacy to be admired by many and will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary (Strozier) Arnold of Houston, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberley and Scott Parker, of Lubbock, TX.
A Graveside Service for Dr. Arnold will be held Saturday, April 21, 2018, 11 AM, at Oxford Historical Cemetery, in Oxford, Georgia, with Rev. Dr. B. Wiley Stephens and Rev. Thomas W. Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the E. Walton Strozier Scholarship, c/o Oxford College of Emory University - Financial Aid Office, 801 Emory Street, Oxford, GA 30054.
