Danny Lamar Walden

Danny Walden of Greenville, SC died of natural causes on October 18, 2024.

He was born in Porterdale, Georgia in 1956 to James and Lois Walden. Prior to their passing, they would have morning coffee meetups to discuss life and current events. Danny would always make sure his parents’ yard was upkept. He enjoyed performing maintenance on his car and giving advice to his daughters. Danny would always reminisce about summers spent at the lake at his parents’ cabin.

 Danny graduated Newton High School in 1974 and attended Dekalb Technical College getting a degree in HVAC. Danny fielded many jobs over his life from automotive manager at Walmart to maintenance technician/manager for several large hotels. He enjoyed the day-to-day challenges that his job provided and supporting his coworkers.

 Danny was part of the Christian faith and attended church when his work schedule allowed. He was always watching Billy Graham and sending his daughters Bible verses. 

 Danny enjoyed watching baseball and football. His favorite sports teams being the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Although later in life he didn’t get the opportunity he loved fishing. When his daughters were young, he taught them how to fish.

 Danny also enjoyed being a granddad to his 3 grandchildren. He liked talking and playing catch with them. Despite his curmudgeonly exterior, we will miss his infectious laugh.

 Danny was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jimmy and his sisters, MaryAnn and Kathy and is survived by daughters, Danielle (Matt) Vyrostek and Holly Walden, Grandchildren, Autumn Swanson, Tatiana and Logan Vyrostek.

A Funeral Service for Danny will be held Thursday, October 24, 2024, 2:00 P.M., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, and interment following in Covington Mills Cemetery, in Covington. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home Thursday, one hour prior to his service, from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M.
