David Leland Mathis

David Leland Mathis of Covington, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019, at the age of 77. Mr. Mathis had been a member of County Line Baptist Church for 48 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was a lifelong carpenter. Mr. Mathis was preceded in death by his parents, John S. Mathis and Calvania (Collins) Mathis; sister, Johnnie Ruth Mitchell; brothers, Clinton Mathis, Herman Mathis, Bobby Mathis.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Josie Mathis; daughters and son-in-law, Sandra Bowman, Joy and Lane Ballard; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Donna Mathis; grandchildren, Amber Mathis, Casey Ballard, Courtney Bowman, Richard Mathis; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Augie Horn, Joyce and Larry Hill, Patsy and Robbie Autry, Janice and Mike Harrison; brothers and sister-in-law, Jesse Mathis, Larry Mathis, O'Neal and Elaine Mathis; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Mathis will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2019, 11:00 A.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. J. Clifton Brown officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family, Tuesday, March 26, from 5:00-8:00 P.M.
