Dean Lowell Freeman

Dean Lowell Freeman, 71, passed away on August 3, 2023, at home with his wife, Sandra Freeman, by his side. He was born on July 6, 1952, to Lowell and June (Edens) Freeman in Pontiac, Michigan. Whether as a dedicated coworker, loyal friend, devoted husband and father, or proud grandfather, Dean was a light and comfort to those in his life.

Dean grew up in Michigan where he enjoyed many a day with his brothers, sister, and cousins. He attended Pontiac Junior Academy and Adelphian Academy in Michigan and spent some time studying at both Union College in Nebraska and Andrews University in Michigan. Dean spent most of his career in the U.S. Air Force where he held several positions in Command & Control Communications and Operational Reports. During his 26 years of service, he was stationed in Michigan, Mississippi, Alaska, and England. Following his military service, Dean worked as a representative and analyst at AdventHealth (then Florida Hospital) and as a missional pastor in the Georgia-Cumberland Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

Dean is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, Sandra (Saville) Freeman; children, Bryan Gallant, Jeff Freeman, and Stephanie (Freeman) Goelzer; and grandchildren, Elijah, Hannah, Jared, Emily, Noah, Hadassah, and Owen. He is also survived by his siblings, Tim Freeman, Jerry Freeman, and Laurie (Freeman) Johnson and many cousins. Dean is preceded in death by his parents and grandchildren Caleb and Abigail Gallant.

Visitation hours for Dean Freeman will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home in Covington, Georgia. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home’s chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be directed to Adventist Frontier Missions (afmonline.org) or Folds of Honor (foldsofhonors.org).
