Dennis Jerry Clay, Sr.

Dennis Jerry Clay, Sr., of Covington, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019, at the age of 75. Mr. Clay proudly served his country in the United States Army for eight years and was a member of Stewart Baptist Church. In his younger days, he was a professional wrestler and was known as Jerry Valentine of the Valentine Brothers. Mr. Clay's family was his world and he will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Coleman Clay and Clara Louise Hyatt.

Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Sybil Clay; daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and David Long, Julie and Ashley Woods; son and daughter-in-law, Denny, Jr., and Amy Clay; grandchildren, Zack Clay, Kaley Clay, Emily Penland, Laura Penland, A.J. Woods; sister, Diane McCart; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Runelle Clay.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Clay will be held Saturday, August 24, 2019, 10:00 A.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor J.B. Leachman officiating. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home Friday, August 23, from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. Interment will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2019, 10 A.M., in Lawnwood Memorial Park, Covington.
