Dorcie " Mom, Sista, Tita, Tit" Kerridge, born on September 15, 1948, in the scenic hills of Hagley Gap, Jamaica, was a beacon of love and kindness throughout her 76 years. Our cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend peacefully passed away on December 5, 2024, at Piedmont Walton Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. Dorcie, the daughter of the late Arnold Cornelius Grant and Agatha Perlina Grant, grew up in a family that believed in the virtues of love and community. Her siblings, Enid Allison, Samuel Grant, and Hubert Grant, have predeceased her. However, she leaves behind her beloved brothers Burchell and Ayon Grant, along with her adoring sisters Esmlyn Anderson, Gail, Lelieth, and Veronica Grant to cherish her memory. Fate blessed her with a loving marriage with her husband Carl and a beautiful lineage that included her children Garfield Carridge and his spouse Merchita, Claudette Hamilton and her spouse Everton, Cherene Jarrett and her spouse Stephen, and Cherwayne Carridge and his spouse Keneisha. Dorcie was the proud grandmother of Latoya, Mikhail (married to Jamie), DeAndre, DeVonte, Seth, Zackary, Abigail, Ja'don, Gi'Anna, Micaiah, Naomi, and Tiffani. Her great grandchildren, Mahina La and Jeziah, added further joy to her later years. Her life was a living embodiment of selflessness. Dorcie’s love resonated not just within the bounds of her family, but also beyond, touching the lives of many through her unwavering commitment to spreading the love of Christ. She embodied the virtues of generosity and kindness, always willing to lend a hand and provide comfort to those in need. Dorcie’s remarkable attributes extended into her diverse interests. She was an amazing soul whose continued sacrifices taught others how to love, turning her home into a nurturing haven filled with warmth and faith. Our matriarch had a gift for radiating love and actively encouraged everyone to open their hearts to the teachings and love of Christ. Her love was her greatest gift, always dispensed without expectations, transforming the lives of her family and friends. Dorcie's unshakable faith, generous spirit, and loving nature have left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. As we bid farewell to Dorcie Kerridge, we are comforted by the profound love she left behind; a legacy that will continue to flourish in the hearts and lives of her family and the countless souls she has touched. She was more than just a name; she was a lesson in love, a hymn of compassion, and a testament to altruism. Dorcie will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will serve as a source of strength and inspiration forevermore.
