Dorothy Bender

Dorothy Bender, of Mansfield, passed away October 7, 2015, at the age of 88. Mrs. Bender retired from DeKalb College and enjoyed flower gardening. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Bender was preceded in death by her husband, John Oscar Bender, Sr.; sons, John Oscar Bender, Jr. and Terry Bender; and parents, Jordan and Rudell Spraggs.

Survivors include her two sons and 4 daughters-in-law; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Mrs. Bender will be held Sunday, October 11, 2015, 3:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Dr. Truett Gannon and Dr. Cody McNutt officiating. Entombment will follow at Memory Chapel Mausoleum in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 - 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Music Ministry, 1139 Usher Street NE, Covington, GA 30014.
