Dr. Sterling Cale Whitworth, DMD was born along with his twin brother, Brandon Whitworth, on November 21, 1983. Sterling passed away on Tuesday November 14, 2023, at age 39. Sterling grew up in Covington, GA and was known for his love of sports and his competitive nature. He played basketball, football, and baseball at Eastside high school, and went on to play baseball at Samford University. He continued to love sports and play whenever he could with his friends, especially basketball on his parents’ backyard court. He was known to always be up for a weekend golf or ski trip with friends. He never met a sport he didn’t like. After dental school at Medical College of Georgia, Sterling married his high school sweetheart, Callie Carter, on October 24, 2015. They were blessed with their beautiful daughter, Emma Rawlings, a few years later on November 27, 2018. They were often seen scootering down Floyd Street on their way to Scoops or riding around on the golf cart on their way to visit friends at City Pharmacy. Sterling was well known and respected in his community, being honored with the Covington News 40 Under 40. He owned a successful dentist practice, Covington Dental Partners, which was known for its loving and professional staff and served hundreds of people across Covington and the surrounding area. If you were in one of his office chairs, you always knew where he was as you could hear his laughter roaring throughout the office. He was known for both his kindness and expertise in dentistry. When he wasn’t at work or home with Callie and Emma Rawlings, Sterling could be found at a golf course with Brandon, out skiing (also with Brandon), at City Pharmacy with friends, or just riding around in his golf cart visiting people. Friends were probably the only thing Sterling had more of than hats, shoes, or sunglasses — and those who knew him know he had a lot of hats, shoes, and sunglasses. His infectious laugh, endless generosity, and sweet smile will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Sterling is survived by his wife, Callie Carter, and daughter Emma Rawlings Whitworth; his parents, Steven and Kathy Whitworth; siblings, Athalia (and Travis Critcher), Tiffany (and Mark Howard), Brandon (and Ashley), and Natalie; nieces Tally, Zoe, Ava, and Ella; nephews Lowell, Linden, Bennett, and Walker; and grandparent Clyde Whitworth.
