Edith Joye Vorderbrug (Gaulden)

Edith Joye Vorderbrug (Gaulden), age 84, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2021, at her home in Oxford, GA.

She was born on September 9, 1937, to Carl and Mabel (Long) Gaulden. She married Robert William Vorderbrug on April 18, 1959 and had two children Lauri and Lisa.

She worked as an Executive Assistant for the President of Eastern Airlines in Chicago, and as an

Executive Assistant for the President of WAGA Channel 5 in Atlanta, and an Executive Assistant for the Rouse Company in Atlanta.

Joye was beautiful both inside and out. She was always put-together and had a quick wit. She had a very contagious laugh, and always kept those around her in good humor. She also loved adventure. She enjoyed vacationing to her summer home on Lake Burton as her daughters grew up, and even enjoyed the occasional trip to Biloxi later in life. But her greatest love was her family. We will all miss her very dearly.

Joye is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mabel Gaulden; brother, Wiley Gaulden, sister, Judy VanCantfort; and daughter, Lisa V Schirk.

Mrs. Vorderbrug is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert Vorderbrug; daughter, Lauri V Roy and husband, Kerry; grandchildren, Kristin Coleman, Catherine Sommerville, and Natalie Gibson; and great- grandchildren, Weston Gibson, and Willie Sommerville.

The Memorial Service for Joye Vorderbrug will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at 3:00 pm at Holy Cross Anglican Church, 3836 Oak Grove Rd SW, Loganville, GA 30052.
