Edna Carnes of Covington, passed away March 14, 2015, at the age of 82. Mrs. Carnes attended Happy Valley Church in Tennessee. She was an avid reader of The Bible. A loving and caring mother, grandmother, and friend, she was always willing to help anyone in need. She enjoyed cooking, baking and was especially known for her 7-up pound cake. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted R. Carnes; her son, Barry Carnes; her parents, Harley and Minnie (Welch) Burnette.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda Fitzgerald and her husband, Glenn of Covington, Sheila Carnes of Mobile, AL; sons, Michael Carnes, Terry Carnes both of Covington; 14 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; sister, Christine Woodard of Sylva, NC; Joe Burnette of Franklin NC; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Carnes will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2015, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Homer Longoria, Bro. John Carnes, and Rev. Brent Lewis officiating and interment following in New Covington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, March 16, 2015, from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
