Geneva Ellis Moore of Covington died July 1, 2010, at the age of 90. The daughter of the late Hiram and Grace Johnson Ellis and the widow of the late Huie Anderson Moore, she was a member of First United Methodist Church in Covington, where she belonged to the Friendship Sunday School Class and Senior Saints. She was a member of the Pilot Club, AARP, and the Order of the Eastern Star. After retiring from Newton County High School in 1991, Mrs. Moore enjoyed cooking and traveling. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Huanne and Joseph Brown; son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Dolores Moore, all of Covington; grandchildren, Russell Brown of Atlanta, Travis Moore, Tim Moore, both of Covington; great-grandchildren, Malia Moore, Jack Moore, both of Monticello, Kaylee Moore, Alexis Moore, both of Covington, sister, Josephine Hays of Clayton; brother, Julian Ellis of Florida. Funeral Services for Mrs. Moore will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 3, 2010, at the Floyd Street Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, with Rev. Gail Thompson and Rev. Sanford McDonald, officiating, and interment following in Covington City Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home, 3134 Floyd Street, Friday, July 2, from 6 to 8 PM.
