Elsie Eidson Crawford

Elsie Eidson Crawford, 90, of Covington, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle. A native of Carrollton, she had called Covington home since 1950. Mrs. Crawford was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Covington. She retired from Grand Union (Colonial Stores) with 37 years of service. Mrs. Crawford was preceded in death by her parents, Landis Aquillian and Rebecca McCollum Eidson; her beloved husband, Newell Crawford; and her sister, Ruth Eidson Williams.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Steve Denman of Watkinsville; her two adored granddaughters, Katie Denman of Athens and Laura Denman of Augusta. She is also survived by dear family friend, Dot Norton of Tucker, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Crawford will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 16, at First Baptist Church, Covington with Rev. Charles Reynolds and Steve Aldridge officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, Covington, Wednesday, January 15, from 5:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Crawford's memory to the First Baptist Church, 1139 Usher Street, Covington, GA 30014 or the Newton County Library, 7116 Floyd Street NE, Covington, GA 30014.
