Eunice Kimbrel Shelton passed away on January 3, 2025, in Greensboro, Georgia. Born on May 10, 1928, in Bessemer, Alabama, Eunice lived a vibrant life, marked by a spirited sense of humor, boundless kindness, and an unwavering devotion to her family, faith, and community. Eunice was the treasured heart of a large and warm family. She walked gracefully alongside her loving husband, Henry Shelton, for 61 years, creating a legacy of love and devotion that remains an inspiration to her family. Her radiant smile and laughter will live on through her daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and Jim Ware; her son and daughter in law, Ron and Sharon Shelton; her grandchildren, Melanie Cagle, James and Alisa Ware, Jason Ware; and her great-grandchildren, Hayden Cagle, Parker Ware, Jackson Ware, Caroline Ware, Rowan Ware, and Luke Ware. A cherished sister, Eunice leaves behind fond memories with Jim Kimbrell, Doris Sanders, Revella and Gary Adams, as well as several nephews and nieces who adored her storytelling and generous spirit. She is preceded in passing by her steadfast, irreplaceable companions, her parents, Posey and Mac Kimbrel, her beloved stepmother, Ethel Kimbrel, husband, Henry Shelton, and siblings Lorene, Dorothy, Ozella, Lavada, Lannace, Roy, Harden, Louie, Check, Otis, Dewell, and Melvin. Eunice's enthusiasm for life was contagious and reflected in her multiple passions. She was a staunch member of the Conyers Church of God, wherein her faith shone brightly, touching the hearts of everyone she encountered. Whether it was delighting in the thrills of traveling or reveling in the sounds of slot machines at her favorite casino, she embraced every experience with exuberance and termed it her cherished "recreation." An unrivaled host, Eunice's home was a haven of warmth, delicious scents of her renowned cooking, and an open heart, always ready to welcome and embrace both old friends and new acquaintances whom she never regarded as strangers. Her stories of bygone days and childhood adventures brought laughter and joy to family gatherings, immeasurably enriching their lives. Her memory will be carried forward in the lives she touched with her bright light and loving legacy. Eunice's passage from this earth is not a goodbye, but a gentle reminder that love transcends all.
A Funeral Service for Eunice will be held Thursday, January 9, 2025, 12:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Mark Hardgrove officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
