Floyd Thomas Barnes of Covington, passed away December 11, 2016, at the age of 79. Mr. Barnes was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having specifically served as part of the Underwater Demolition Team during the Vietnam War. A carpenter by trade, he was a master craftsman, gun enthusiast, and enjoyed making knives and reloading bullets. Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his daughter, Latonya Barnes; and his parents, Henry and Myrtle Barnes.
Survivors include his partner, Becky Pace; son, Neal Barnes; sisters, Bethyl Goins, Deborah Barnhart; brothers and sister-in-law, Barney and Barbara Barnes, Henry E. Barnes, Jr.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Barnes will be held Saturday, December 17, 2016, 1:00 PM, at Mansfield Baptist Church, with Dr. Jeff Perkins officiating.
