Fred Leavitt of Oxford, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019, at the age of 69. A former teacher at Tabernacle Christian School for 14 years, Mr. Leavitt went on to work for the City of Covington, where he retired after 24 years of dedicated service. His belief in giving back to the community was apparent in his role as Director for the Newton Christian Youth Softball League for over 25 years. Mr. Leavitt was an active member of CrossPointe Church, in Oxford. His presence as a caring and thoughtful husband, father and grandfather will leave an indelible mark on the lives of those he loved most. Mr. Leavitt was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Marion Leavitt; brother, Jeff Leavitt.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Linda Leavitt; daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle Leavitt, Lisa and Zach Ames, Kimberly and Chris Abalos; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Aletheia Leavitt; grandchildren, Sydney Abalos, Ruthie Abalos, Sean Leavitt, Bella Leavitt, Catie Leavitt, Ella Ames, Gus Ames; brothers, Tom Leavitt, Gary Leavitt, Steve Leavitt; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Leavitt will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019, 2:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Dr. Alan Posey officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home, Friday, March 1, from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Stand Up To Cancer, P.O.
