Furman “Kippy” Clarke, of Covington, passed away, Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the age of 64. Mr. Clarke was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and love. A professional powerlifter from 1982 to 2005, Mr. Clarke broke world records, graced the pages of several top powerlifting magazines, and was honored with an invitation to the Olympic team for weightlifting, and qualified as a top competitor for the world bench press championships in Taiwan. Some of his records still stand today.
Beyond his athletic achievements, Mr. Clarke was a visionary entrepreneur who made bold moves and built a business others thought impossible. He had a deep love for fishing, the water, and singing—blessed with a voice that could stop a room. He loved every style of music and would sing anywhere even to strangers. Mr. Clarke was also an avid history buff who could recount history facts about any time period. One of his favorite things to do was watch old western movies. Known for his infectious humor, he never met a stranger and brought joy to every space he entered.
Above all, Mr. Clarke loved his family and cherished every moment spent with them. His strength, spirit, and unforgettable presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher “Chris” Clarke; parents, Furman Leslie Clarke, Sr., and Teresa June Clarke.
