George Robert Morris

George Robert Morris, of Covington, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2019, at the age of 71. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Mr. Morris served for four years on the USS Cavalla SSN-684. He was an active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bethel, Connecticut, where he served as Junior and Senior Warden, treasurer, and in addition, contributed to the Buildings and Grounds Committee. As a resident of Covington since 2012, Mr. Morris was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal and a supportive participant in his local community. He will be remembered as a caring and attentive husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, George Albert and Virginia (Santore) Morris.

Survivors include his wife, Hilda Morris; daughters, Hilary Morris, Michelle Bell, Melissa Morris-Jones; son, Jared Morris; sister, Cheryl Hancock; and brothers, Wayne Morris, Robert Morris.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Morris will be held Friday, January 25, 2019, 11:00 A.M., at Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal, 4140 Clark Street, in Covington, with Rev. Edwin Beckham officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: American Diabetes Association, 225 Peachtree Street NE, Suite #550, Atlanta, GA 30346, or American Cancer Society, 105 Westpark Drive, Suite C, Athens, GA 30606.
