George Ronald Sammons

Access Road George Ronald Sammons, of Covington, passed away on October 20, 2012, at the age of 76.  He retired from General Motors after 33 years of service.  He was a member of the Covington Church of Christ.  In his younger years he was active with the Explorer Scouts. Ron loved his family.  He was also an animal lover and one of his neighbors nicknamed him Dr. Dolittle.  He enjoyed meeting his friends at Bojangles and Waffle House daily.  Ron was preceded in death by his parents, James Frank and Monteen (Sorrells) Sammons; and brothers James Tony Sammons and Richard Johnson.   Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Reed Sammons; daughter, Terri Lynn Sammons Williams; son, Ronald Timothy Sammons; granddaughter, Tasha Lea Williams Criswell and husband Kevin; and great-grandson, William Duane Criswell.   Funeral Services for Ron will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2012, 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Bill McIlvain officiating, and interment following in Covington Mill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, October 22, 2012, from 6-8 PM.
