George Edward (Ed) Carter went to be with Jesus after an extended illness, Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Born in Stephens County, GA, the son of the late Lucille and Kermit Carter, Ed is survived by his wife, Linda, son, Chris of the home, and son, Matt of Dallas, GA, brother, Farris Carter of Dallas, GA, a number of nieces and nephews, and “sister cousins” Kaye and Bobby Murphy and Annelle and Vernon Cash of Toccoa. Ed retired from Acuity Brands (Lithonia Lighting) as Director of Corporate Fleet with 45 years of service. During those years he was President of the GMTA and Chairman of the GA Safety Council and other capacities. A devout Christian, he was a former member of Conyers First Baptist and currently a member of Covington First Baptist, having served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, finance chairman and other capacities as God led him.

Memorial Services will be held at Covington First Baptist Church, Covington, GA, Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 11:00 A.M., with visitation at 9:30 A.M., in the sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Capital Campaign, First Baptist Church of Covington, 1139 Usher Street, Covington, GA 30014.
