George Thomas Lazenby

George Thomas Lazenby entered into his eternal rest on October 4, 2023. He was born on February 8, 1952, in Mansfield, Georgia. George worked on his family farm until he went to the University of Georgia to study finance. He graduated in 1972 and began working at Newton Federal Savings and Loan as a teller, eventually becoming President and CEO of Newton Federal Bank where he served for over forty years. He loved his wife, his twin boys, golf, James Bond, and the Georgia Bulldogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents Julius and Mildred Lazenby. He is survived by his wife, Kim; his twin sons, Taylor (Kayla) Lazenby and Will (Ashlyn) Lazenby; four grandchildren; and his siblings, Frank (Robin) Lazenby and Catherine (Larry) Parnell.

A service will be held at First Baptist Church of Covington on Sunday, October 8th at 2:30 pm and will be presided over by Dr. Cody McNutt. In lieu of flowers, consider making an honorarium donation to the UGA Hartman Fund.
