Gerald Temple, of Social Circle, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the age of 80. A former member of First Baptist Church of Hartwell, he was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Social Circle. Mr. Temple was a sales representative and troubleshooter for Murray Gin Company, for 12 years, prior to becoming the manager of Little River Farms, where he was a dedicated employee for 20 years. He served in the Army National Guard for six years. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he enjoyed spending time with his family at Lake Hartwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Sallie Mae (Floyd) Temple; sisters and brother-in-law, Jean and Loy Johnson, Barbara Temple King, Kathy Temple; as well as his brother, Amos (Pete) Temple.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Gail Temple; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Wayne Porch of Conyers; son and daughter-in-law, Tracy and Denise Temple of Social Circle; grandchildren, Jason Porch, Matthew and Brittany Porch, Samantha Temple; great-grandchildren, Hailey Porch, Madison Porch, Abigail Porch, Jesse Porch, Westyn Porch, Garrett Deerman; sister and brothers-in-law, Rosemary and Barnwell Calhoun of Tifton, Al King of Clermont, GA; brother and sister-in-law, John and Ouida Temple of Sky Valley, GA; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Temple will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015, at 2:00 PM, at First Baptist Church of Social Circle, with Rev. Michael Hardy, Rev. Michael Dyar, Rev. Milton Woods and Mr. Bill Clegg officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 - 1:45 PM prior to the service. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Social Circle Building Fund, 195 N. Cherokee Road, Social Circle, GA 30025.
