Grace Edwards of Covington passed away June 29, 2012 at Newton Medical Center. She was 98 years of age at the time of her death. Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, J. Rufus Edwards, and her parents, Robert Greenbury and Annie Eloise (Phillips) Hogan, as well as four sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Edwards was a very strong Christian whose faith never wavered. She was an active member of Shiloh United Methodist until about one year ago. She attended Tuesday morning Bible Study and at the time of her death, was the oldest member of her church. Mrs. Edwards was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Mrs. Edwards lived in the same home for more than 70 years.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Bobbie Ann and Al Tubb of Flower Mound, TX, and Van Vanderwater of Covington; grandchildren, Melanie Miller, Dr. Lisa D. Miller, Ginger Blair, Will Tubb, Laura Dawes; great-grandchildren, Jackie Grubel, Anna Warren, Scott Warren, Kelsey Blair, Shelby Blair, Gracie Miller, Ella Ayres; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Edwards will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 2, 2012, at Shiloh United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Wadley officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, Sunday, July 1, from 6:00 - 9:00 P.M.
