Mr. Grady Allen of Covington died on April 21, 2011 at the age of 88. He was born in Wheeler County, GA. to the late William Claude and Maggie Goss Allen and was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during WWII in Germany. Grady was a member and former deacon of Sunny Side First Baptist Church and also attended Julia A. Porter United Methodist Church in Porterdale. He retired from General Motors in 1977 after 31 years of service. Grady enjoyed freshwater fishing, vegetable gardening and loved to play dominos with family and friends. Grady will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Nettie Floyd Allen; 2 sons, Samuel Grady Allen and Daniel Wayne Allen; step-daughter, Retter Price Bailey.
Grady is survived by his wife, Juritta P. Allen of Covington; daughters and son-in-law, Annette Todd, Laverne and Donnie Johnson all of Griffin; sons and daughter-in-law, Steve and Lorraine Allen of Griffin, Mark Allen of McDonough, Chuck Allen of Hampton; step-children, Randy Price, Gary Price, Gayle and Ricky Walden, Tammy Price, Timmy and Kandi Price all of Covington; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; 25 step-great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Grady will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2011, 2:00 P.M. at Julia A. Porter United Methodist Church, Porterdale, GA., with Rev. James A. Moore & Mr. Ricky Walden officiating and interment following in Sunny Side First Baptist Church Cemetery, Sunny Side, GA. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, GA., on Friday, April 22, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 P. M. Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA., 30605.
