Gregory Harold Harper, of Covington, Ga., passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022. Greg was born on January 16, 1960, to Harold and Margaret Harper. After graduating from Newton High School, Greg served 42 years as a dedicated employee of AT&T as a Lineman/OPT. Greg was also an Eagle Scout, Freemason, and longtime member of High Point Baptist Church.
In 1981, he married his high school sweetheart, Jana Harper. Together they had three children, Jennifer, Brian, and Andrew.
Greg loved his family and lived to serve others in his community. He had an innate ability to fix anything as a “Jack of all Trades,” and always offered a helping hand to those in need. From taking late night calls to service a neighbor’s phone after a storm to assisting with the engine on a family members lawnmower, Greg was always thought to be dependable in a time of necessity. He lived by the motto of “Do what’s right and do what’s good. Be kind and help others. The world can always use one more kind person.” This saying modeled his life’s work and suited his servant heart.
Greg is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jana, daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Jason Norman, son and daughter-in-law Brian and Erin Harper, son Andrew Harper; sister Barbara Sowers and brother Scott Harper, wife Lisa Harper along with four grandchildren Carter and Kinsley Norman, Charlotte, and Claire Harper. Greg’s spirit lives eternally strong in each family member.
