DAY, Harold W., age 69 (a/k/a "Santa") passed away September 12, 2010. Harold grew up in Opp, AL entering the United States Air Force in 1961-65 stationed at SAC Air Bases. A long career with W. T. Grants, managing several Atlanta stores; another long career as contract salesman for West Building Materials; retiring from Lowes (Conyers/Lithonia). With West he was in the "million dollar" sales club winning many awards. He was an active member of Rowland Hills Baptist Church participating with the Youth Group and Men's Brotherhood and Promise Keepers; later at 12 Stone Church. His most recent and favorite enjoyment came in the retirement years playing "Santa" for schools, churches, retirement homes, and private parties. He was Santa every day as children would look upon him with awe and those smiles were his treasures. Any proceeds from "Santa" went to bring hope to those in need.
Harold is survived by his wife, Beth Day; daughters/sons-in-law, Neva & Scott Coburn, Jamie & Wayne (deceased) Quinton; sons/daughter-in-laws, Kenneth W. Day, Katrina Mullins; Jason & Buffy Day; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Thurs, Sept. 16, 2010, 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Dr. Craig Bowers officiating, interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wed., Sept. 15, from 7-9 PM. Donations may be made to the Abbey Hospice, Social Circle or to the Harold Day Benevolence Fund at 12 Stone Church, 1322 Buford Drive, Lawrenceville, GA. 30043.
