Harriette Thompson

Harriette Thompson, of Covington, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at the age of 87. Mrs. Thompson was a very strong Christian woman who knew her Bible, committed many verses to memory, and was always willing to share her faith. In Mrs. Thompson’s younger days, she was an avid sportsperson and was excellent at playing softball and enjoyed basketball, and pool – even participating in the Senior Olympics in Newton and Rockdale Counties. She was selfless and always willing to help anyone in need and never said “goodbye” only “see you later.” Mrs. Thompson will be remembered as a beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Bailey; parents, Raymond and Audrey (Lungford) Campbell.

Survivors include her daughters, Vicki Abbott (Glen), Sonya Stephenson (Matt); sons, Ricky Thompson, Terry Thompson, Scott Thompson; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Larry Chelena.

A Private Memorial Service for Mrs. Thompson will be held at a later date.
