Irven A. Smith of Covington, passed away October 17, 2017, at 82 years of age. Mr. Smith proudly served his country in the Marines and the Air Force for 20 years before retiring. He earned his Ph. D. and went on to write a textbook for the State of Georgia. Education was very important to him as evidenced by the curiosity he inspired in his classrooms. Mr. Smith enjoyed being outside, whether fishing or hunting - but most of all he cherished his family and the time he spent with them. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Donna Lee Smith; daughter, Teresa McLean; sons, Billy-Joe Smith and fiancé, Cathy Clark, Jack Smith and his wife Wendy Hiller; grandchildren, Kristina McLean, William McLean, Adam Smith, Jennylee Smith; 9 great-grandchildren.
