Irwin Dean Sorrow

Irwin Dean Sorrow, of Covington, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 83 years of age. Mr. Sorrow, married to the love of his life, Mary Nell, for 64 years, was a godly husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He retired from Hercules, in Covington, and was a faithful member and a deacon of Newton Baptist Church. Mr. Sorrow proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Mr. Sorrow adored his church family and was known for his sense of humor and his love of people. In addition to working in his yard, Mr. Sorrow enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bird watching. He was preceded in death by his parents, Solomon and Clara Sorrow and his daughter Dina Sorrow.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Nell Sorrow; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Dana Sorrow; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Reggie Cook; grandchildren, Walt and Mallory Sorrow; and Sidney Cook; great-grandson, Dean Sorrow; sister, Juanita Sorrow; brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Judy Sorrow, James and Linda Sorrow, Billy and Brenda Sorrow, and Phillip and Janice Sorrow; as well as several nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Sorrow will be held Thursday, October 5, 2023, 3:00 P.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, GA 30014. Interment at Cornish Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery, 1089 Cornish Mountain Church Road, Oxford, GA 30054. Friends may visit with his family at the funeral home Thursday, two hours prior to his service, from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M.
