Jackie Cooper of Oxford passed away January 1, 2012, at Social Circle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 89 years old at the time of her death. Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her husband, William Houston Cooper, Jr., and her parents, Thomas Jackson and Rose (Carroll) Peacock. Mrs. Cooper enjoyed teaching the Bible, traveling and gardening. She had a love for music and enjoyed playing the piano.
Mrs. Cooper is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Janie and Jimmy Purcell of Oxford, Linda Carlyle of Marietta; sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Kay Cooper of Buford, David and Barbie Cooper of Atlanta, Tim and Felicia Cooper of Newnan; grandchildren, Stephanie and Greg Carter, Daryl and Julie Cato, Jason and Athenia Cato, Amanda Cooper, Will Cooper, David Paul Cooper, Charlsi Cooper, Timothy Cooper, Sarah Cooper, John Carlyle, David Carlyle; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Jason Griffin, Sierra Carter, Lauren Cato, Aidan Cato, Jonathan Cato, Kathy Cato; sister Janie Hall of Marietta.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Cooper will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at Mount Paran Church of God, 2055 Mount Paran Road, NW., in Atlanta with Dr. David Cooper and Pastor Kent Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow in College Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road in Covington, Tuesday, January 3, from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to S.A. George Children's Home, Mount Paran Church of God, 2055 Mount Paran Road, NW, Atlanta, GA 30327-9819.
