Access RoadJames V. Harper of Oxford, passed away August 9, 2012, at the age of 69. "Buddy", or "Fats", as he was often called, worked for Lithonia Lighting for more than 35 years, as well as a sub-contractor with AT&T for 10 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Mr. Harper loved his family, and always enjoyed their family cookouts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Eva (Sanders) Harper.Survivors include his wife, Janet M. Harper of Oxford; daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Paul Richards of Temple, GA, Melisa and Mark Cordova of Jonesboro; son, James Kenneth Harper of Conyers; step-son, Larry W. Atkins of Conyers; step-daughter, Kyle Poteet of Conyers; 6 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Starnes of Conyers, Peggy Thompson of Rome, Debra and Jim Walsh, James Webb, all of Carrollton; many wonderful nieces and nephews.A Memorial Service for Mr. Harper will be held Saturday, August 18, 2012, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Hulen Knight, Rev. David Collins, and nephew, Billy Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, one hour prior to the service, from 1:00-2:00 PM.
