James “Grady” Strange, of Monticello, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at the age of 83. Born and raised in Covington, Mr. Strange was a longtime active member of Red Oak United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Trustees. He was employed with General Motors for over 25 years. In addition, Mr. Strange was a lifetime member of Elks Lodge. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time teeing up on the greens. Mr. Strange was a devoted father and close with his sons; you could always count on him for making a surprise visit to see them. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Strange; grandson, Kyle Headrick; parents, James and Sarah Strange; sister, Linda Littleton; and brothers, Henry Strange, Gerald Strange.
He is survived by his sons, Gerald Strange, Scott Strange (Desiree); beloved partner, Diane Bentley; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Strange; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Strange will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022, 11:00 A.M., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, in Covington. Interment will follow at 3:00 P.M., at Red Oak United Methodist Church, 15105 Highway 36, in Covington, with Pastor Walter Murphy and Pastor Barney Johnson officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home one hour prior to his service from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M.
